Antietam Lake dam repairs expected to cost less

Repairs to the dam at Antietam Lake are set to begin in about a month and will cost about $800,000 less than the $3.1 million estimate, the Berks County commissioners said Tuesday.

The commissioners said they plan to award a $2,290,699 contract to QEI Construction Group, Wyomissing, to do the work.

Berks student's logo shines on locally produced foods

The produce in one local grocery store chain has something new added to the label.

Soon it will be cropping up all over Berks County.

It is a Bountiful Berks logo that will identify produce grown and food products made by members of the Berks Agricultural Resource network, a nonprofit organization that supports agriculture.

County approves Boyertown rail crossing repairs

The railroad crossing on East Philadelphia Avenue in Boyertown will be repaired and improved as part of the resurrection of the Colebrookdale Spur, the Berks County commissioners said Tuesday.

Commissioner Mark C. Scott, board chairman, said Amtrac Railroad Contractors of Maryland Inc., Hagerstown, Md., will receive a $91,300 contract to make the repairs.
